The Gita is for all! How so? Because its a 'non-sectarian' doctrine of spiritual truth that transcends our understanding of the self and brings answers to the questions you have been quietly asking all of your life.
NON-SECTARIAN - That's right, you don't have to shave your head, you don't have to sit for hours every Sunday morning in a hall listening to other people telling you how to interpret the word of god. You don't even need to pay for it! Just read it and think about it. If you want to go into more depth, there are lots of people who are happy to share thoughts and offer advice on how to apply the doctrine to your respective lives.
SPIRITUAL TRUTH - If you are interested in reading the Bahagavad-Gita, then you have already accepted the idea that there is more to life than just life, that there could be something before and after. That you are not just a body who thinks and acts on neurological impulses. You are becoming aware of the presence of the SELF. And perhaps you are just unhappy, never truly satisfied and are in search of real happiness. This is what the Gita teaches, the science beyond the elements, the path of happiness and real liberation (in this life).
So who am I and why do I read the Gita? Well I'm just your average householder. I am Married, I have a son and teach for a living. Having the gita in my life have changed how I regard my family, my work (and my students) and has changed how I look at every being that exists around me. And through the guidance of this divine doctrine of spiritual truth, I have managed to give up attachment to the fruits of work, to be content with success and failure alike, to respect all beings and give up the eating of another beings flesh. through meditation I help clear my mind of cobwebs that crowd my judgement with negativity. I am a happier person.
I read the Gita because it is one of the few (if not the only) doctrines that can offer all this without there being a catch. I don't have to do anything. Just give up attachment to the fruits of work and respect all beings as God is present equally in all things.
My advice is take it step by step. You are well advised to read the Abbreviated 'Bhagavad-Gita' By Harry Bhalla before you start reading the entire doctrine itself. When reading the full version of the Bhagavad-Gita, you should not just read through it like you would a novel or a booklet. Take your time, read a bit a day, flick through the table of contents and find aspects of the gita that appeal to you, read them and apply them to your daily life.
You can just take a small section of the Gita, read it, contemplate its meaning and apply it.
READ THE GITA and learn how to be happy in this life.

Find yourself and find God. Finding yourself is finding god, as God resides in all beings. So what is the nature of the Self?, what is the Self?... read the BHAGAVAD-GITA, it is knowledge in its purest form.
